Simplicity.

A gift to the Foundation simplifies charitable giving. Several charitable organizations or causes can be supported with a single gift.  We take of the paperwork - grant applications, disbursements as well as all the administrative and reporting requirements.

Options. 

We offer flexible options to donors and a variety of funds providing varying degrees of involvement.  A wide variety of gifts can be made and donors can choose to receive acknowledgement or to remain anonymous. 

Investment Expertise.

The Foundation works with a professional investment manager whose performance is overseen by a specially recruited Investment Committee to provide strong stewardship of the Foundation's assets.  Funds are pooled and invested under guidelines provided by the Foundation's conservative and balanced investment policy.  We have a proven track record of achieving security of capital and a rate of return that ensures we meet donor expectations for grant disbursements. 

Permanence and Continuity. 

For over 15 years the Community Foundation has focused on building permanent endowment funds.    The Foundation has a carefully crafted policies to ensure that the original gift is protected. Only the annual income can be spent.  As a donor you can be assured that your donation will remain intact in perpetuity - a lasting legacy, giving back forever.

Tax Benefits.

The Foundation is a registered charity under the Income Tax Act. Gifts made at any time will result in important income tax benefits.  There is no longer any tax on the gain of gifts of publicly traded securities to a publication foundation such as ours and a charitable tax receipt is provided for the full market value of the securities.

Community Leadership.

The Foundation helps individuals from all walks of life who wish to make a difference in their community.  We work with donors and their families ensure the best use of donated gifts through the detailed grant research of our staff and rigorous oversight and proven judgement of the Board of Directors - local citizens from the Public, Private and Not-For-Profit sectors.  We are community builders, we act as a catalyst for community action and a resource for philanthropy.  We help people improve the quality of life in their community.

Accountability.

The Community Foundation of Medicine Hat & Southeastern Alberta is a responsible steward of the assets entrusted to us.  We ensure that donor agreements are in place, and that we comply with Canada Revenue Agency disbursement and reporting regulations.  With an administration fee of only 1%, the Foundation provides value for money, impeccable quality of service and lasting legacy for the community.
